The Adams School of Dentistry, established in 1950 and made possible by an Act of the North Carolina General Assembly in 1949, is now part of a dynamic Health Science campus! The school provides oral health care to more than 90,000 patients each year and provides additional in-kind services totaling more than $3.6M annually through four student-led free dental clinics and other charitable care events. The Adams School of Dentistry is one of six health science schools (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Public Health) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is the first dental school in the state of North Carolina. Currently the ASOD has 1,099 incumbents, filling 596 faculty employees (421 non-paid adjunct status, 175 in-pay status), 77 fellows, 31 post-docs, 34 EHRA-NF regular staff employees, 5 EHRA-NF temporary staff employees 249 SHRA regular non-temporary staff employees, 41 SHRA temporary staff employees and 66 student worker employees, and we have active recruitments for faculty and staff! The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an open rank/open track faculty position depending on the applicant qualification in the Department of Orthodontics at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry (ASOD). Responsibilities include providing didactic instruction and clinical supervision for advanced education and pre-doctoral students in the dental school. This position will also participate in the Dental Faculty Practice. A record of scholarly activity is desirable, and the pursuit of scholarly activity is expected. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated record of achievement as an excellent clinician, teacher, mentor, leader, and care provider.
