About the Department

The primary function of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department is to provide educational programs leading to BS, MS and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering. The administrative unit provides support to the education and research programs that reside in the department.

Essential Job Duties

The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at NC State University seeks highly qualified candidates to fill multiple tenure-track and/or tenured faculty positions. These positions will complement departmental strengths in biomanufacturing and engineering life sciences, energy and sustainability, materials, and data and computational engineering. Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering or a closely related field with a clearly demonstrated record of excellence. We particularly encourage applications in the areas of biomanufacturing, energy and sustainability, and semiconductor manufacturing, with particular emphasis on integration of AI technology in these fields.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate core courses in AI, chemical engineering, and biomanufacturing, as appropriate.
  • Develop and lead an active and externally funded research team, including collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
  • Develop a national or international reputation in research.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and University committees.
  • Perform external professional service.

Successful candidates are expected to establish dynamic, externally funded research programs of international reputation, teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in chemical engineering, and perform internal and professional service at a level commensurate with rank. The search committee will give high priority to the overall originality and promise of a candidate’s work.

  • Doctoral degree in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline
